To promote the conservation of important Andean ecosystem areas, we support landowners in registering their properties as Civil Society Natural Reserves (RNSC) or Other Area-Based Conservation Measures (OMEC). We also assist them in developing their management plans, which have clear objectives for biodiversity conservation and freshwater ecosystem protection.
To date, 10 properties have been proposed as RNSC (4 with registration resolutions) and one property as OMEC, aiming to conserve 1,910 hectares. Eight biological characterizations have been carried out, including the discovery of a new plant species within the Miconia genus, scientifically named Miconia lorenaensis.
