This special newsletter includes ten narratives related with the Integrated Management Regional District ‘El Encanto de los Manglares del Bajo Baudó’, a protected area of utmost importance for Chocó, created in 2017 and officially launched in May of 2019. WCS Colombia actively participated in its consolidation. First, the organization supported its designation process and, later, the participatory formulation of its management plan, all in alliance with Codechocó, MarViva, PLAN Internacional, CORPARIEN, WWF, Naturaleza Cultura Internacional and the Alexander Von Humboldt Institute. WCS Colombia also leads the surveillance and control program for the protection of the area's marine resources and a 'Participatory characterization of conservation targets of the Integrated Management Regional District, in the Concosta Community Council', from which the photographs and notes that we are herein publishing arose.
WCS Colombia has been able to do this work owing to the support received from the WCS Marine Protected Area Fund (MPA-Fund) that promotes the establishment of marine protected areas as a mechanism for the preservation of critical ecosystems and the protection of the oceans.
