This document outlines the conservation status of the species and presents a conceptual model and strategic plan for its protection. It defines five Core Conservation Units (CCUs) that have been identified across the three Andean mountain ranges to ensure the long-term viability of Andean bear populations. The strategy seeks to align efforts with multiple stakeholders to implement planning actions, generate knowledge, and promote the management and conservation of the species within the protected areas of the National Natural Parks System.
