One of the main objectives of the Proyecto Vida Silvestre is the conservation of biodiversity, but without forgetting the communities that share territory with these biological resources.
This line of action promotes productive activities among the inhabitants of the regions where the PVS operates, ensuring human well-being, mitigating poverty, and fostering the sustainable use of natural resources.
One of the strategies to achieve this is to improve agricultural practices, diversify the economy, promote social inclusion, and reduce vulnerabilities to climate change and environmental degradation.
This is achieved through the adoption of agroecological techniques, the implementation of sustainable production systems, the promotion of fair markets, and the development of bioproducts to generate economic benefits, including higher income and family savings. Additionally, it is possible to strengthen food security, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience.
The participation of local inhabitants is equitable and inclusive, with a gender perspective.
So far, 214 productive initiatives have been promoted, covering 55 properties across the 3 landscapes of the PVS.
Among these initiatives, we find food production for family consumption, represented in 2,479 square meters of productive areas.
38.87 hectares are dedicated to the production of other crops, such as fruit trees, agroforestry cacao, mango, and plantain. Furthermore, four community-based productive enterprises are supported in biopreparations, seedlings, dehydrated herbs, and moriche.

Through these implementations, more than 4,000 kilograms of food for self-consumption are produced, resulting in savings of over 18 million pesos by eliminating the need for cultivated food.
Additionally, revenues exceeding 40 million pesos are generated from the sale of plants and supplies, including fertilizers.
This is complemented by sustainable alternative energies, which include the installation of biodigesters, eco-efficient kitchens, and the establishment of 7 formally recognized energy communities that produce their own electricity to sustain and grow their enterprises while continuing their role in conservation.
